Annual Orchid Show and SaleBask in the beauty, complexity and diversity of the orchid family this weekend during the Prairie State Orchid Society’s annual show and sale. With between 20,000 and 30,000 different species, orchids are recognized as the largest family of flowering plants in the world. Orchids are widely adaptable, and can be found in the tropics, tundra and everywhere in between, making them a great choice for a houseplant. During this annual event, see prize-winning orchids on display in the conservatory from 12-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday; purchase orchids, pots, bark and growing supplies from 12-4 p.m. on Saturday and 12-3 p.m. on Sunday, and seek out advice on the care and repotting of orchids from experienced orchid growers.
