Sweeney Todd
, also known as Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, has become a worldwide success since its Broadway premiere in 1979. It’s the fictional tale of Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber who returns to 19th century London in search of bloody vengeance against a judge who framed him and ravaged his wife. Along the way, Todd teams up with Mrs. Lovett, an owner of a pie shop who also rents the upstairs to Todd for his new barbership. Presented by the Hoogland Center for the Arts, the show stars Josh Ratz as Sweeney Todd and Stephanie Myre as Mrs. Lovett. Gus Gordon is Judge Turpin. According to the Hoogland, the show is rated PG-13 and contains “adult subject matter and may be too intense for younger audience members. The show also contains acts of violence, gunshots, fog and strobe lights.” Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m. while Sunday shows are at 2 p.m. Tickets are $22 for adults and $20 for seniors and students.
