Grampa fulfills the Sabbath

My grandfather, brought up in a strictly religious family,

decided to dedicate his life to following God’s laws. He

became a minister. But then he went deaf; felt he couldn’t

continue to serve well his congregation, so what to do?

He decided to produce clean milk: sorely needed

in 1900 – but what about that fourth commandment?

A cow did not observe a day of rest out of seven

but produced an udder full every day! Grampa solved

this dilemma by giving each hired man (including self

and Gramma) two half-days off each week. This totaled

a full day off for everybody. Grampa figured God wasn’t

counting days but hours, and not really thinking about

cows. Thus, that fourth commandment was fulfilled!
