There are many bands playing original music in the area, but few are more original in character and sound than Hot Bag O’ Donuts. The band describes themselves as “a classic wave combo” with others portraying the music as, “wave jazz, cornFusion, and acid lounge,” all very alternative classifications to begin with, easily avoiding common categories. With members Ted Keylon (ukulele, vocals), Casey Cantrall (bass, vocals), Shane Quigley (guitar), Russ Harrington (drums), Zach Eymann (harmonica, Theremin, keyboards), plus Jesse Miller and Craig Ripka as substitute drummers, HBoD plays originals and versions of songs from the 60s to the 80s, with a few drifting even further into the past, while constantly taking the music into the future where no band has gone before. Citing influences as varied as Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, the Beatles, Krabbers and the Sex Pistols, the eccentric and exciting group makes each show an adventure and brings the audience along for the experience.
