Not so long ago, vocalist Rod Grant, guitarist Johnny Johnson and bass player Doug Antonacci, all former members of Late Arrival (a previous winner in IT’s Best of Springfield for band duties, by the way) and vets of other bands, began planning for another foray into the music scene by searching for drummers who could sing. Grant contacted Tim Lacy, a popular lead singer and percussionist (Postwar Fords, Screamin’ Vatos and others) for input, unaware of Lacy’s origins as a singing kit-drummer. With that happy connection solving the drumming dilemma, guitarist Mike Prehoda came on board and The ReJüvenilz existed. Dedicated as a true-blue cover group intent on being “a fun band that does not take itself too seriously” the guys focused on playing 80s guitar rock or “cheese rock,” as band members like to call it. In the home of the horseshoe, “bringing on the cheese” seemed the way to go through covering tunes from Bon Jovi, Sammy Hagar, Foreigner and the like. Pour on the cheese, please.
