Street talk
The city’s new subcommittee on infrastructure heard it from the experts — Springfield is $28 million short of fulfilling street, bridge, and sidewalk
needs. Now co-chairman Ward 1 Ald. Frank Edwards and Ward 6 Ald. Mark Mahoney
want to know what’s in the saddest shape, and they want you to tell them.
The subcommittee will host four town hall meetings for residents to give
feedback on road, sidewalk, and drainage system improvements. From there, they’ll prioritize the needs and develop a long-term project list for the Office of
Public Works.
The first meeting was held Wednesday at Southeast High School. The next meeting
will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday (tonight) at Southside Christian Church,
2600 South MacArthur Boulevard.
The final two will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17 at Sparc, 232 Bruns
Lane, and at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at Lanphier High School, 1300 North
11th Street.
