Start your New Year off with a winner, the winner of the 2014 Blues Music Award, Soul Blues Artist of the Year, that is. Also nominated for six other BMA’s, including BB King Artist of the Year, plus several others in years past, John Nemeth is on top of his game and going higher. Fortunately for us, this talented and in demand blues artist is a fan of Springfield and our fabulous Illinois Central Blues Club. With the ICBC’s incredible group of blues-appreciating participants here, John made this one of his few stops up north of the Mason-Dixon line on his present tour. Nemeth, born in Boise, Idaho to Hungarian immigrants, moved to Oakland, Calif., and made his mark in blues music on Blind Pig Records. Now settled with his family in Memphis, Tenn., the singing, harmonica player sets soul grooves into blues material using inter-generational musicians steeped in the heritage of the famed music city to create modern sounding tunes with traditional sensibilities.
