Hello everyone, and welcome to mid-June meanderings of the music scene. We can definitely say, the happenings are hot this weekend, if not downright sizzling. All weather-related kidding aside, please be mindful of the high temps and hefty humidity levels if you’re listening to music outside in the heat. There’s plenty to get fired up […]

Jingle jangle June
June bugs, June weddings, Henry and June, “by the light of the silvery moon” in June, and even Lassie’s TV mom, June Lockhart, give us a lot to think about as the sixth month of the year comes along. But here at Now Playing central we consider mostly music. So let’s take a gander at […]
June music blast
Maybe you folks are getting tired of me blabbing about how much live music is happening in the area right now, but then again, after two years of little or nothing, perhaps the excitement still lingers. Also, it’s kinda what I do, you know. Either way, I’m on the side of the more the merrier […]

As we begin our romp through all the live, local music in the first full weekend of May, be prepared to make some tough decisions. Isn’t it just too bad there is so much to do and so many music events, that you, my friend, aren’t going to be able to experience them all? But […]
Goodbye Mark, So Long April

Billy Gilman comes to sing
When a 12-year-old Billy Gilman captured the hearts of Americans back in 2000 with hits like “One Voice” and “Oklahoma,” he was the youngest singer to ever have a platinum-selling record, among other first-time accomplishments. He never quite captured that huge success again, but he’s stayed busy in the business and is now back on […]
April music showers
As we roll merrily along through April, the gigs keep coming and the listings are quite healthy looking with a variety of stuff going on in and around the capital city. Let’s see what mischief in music we can find to get into this week, just for the fun of it. For whatever reason, Friday […]
Music blooms
As we hit mid-April, the bands are busting out all over and the music blooms forth like a magnificent magnolia tree and those darling daffy daffodils. If you can’t find something to your liking this weekend, well I don’t know what to say, other than, wait until next week because there’s probably going to be […]
