It is hard to sum up Mike Anderson. The Jacksonville resident is a former elementary school teacher who melded his experience in children’s education with his musical talents and clever storytelling to become an award-winning and much sought-after entertainer, author and folklorist. According to Mike, the integration of storytelling, folklore, the commonplace and the rhythms of the world has led him faithfully through a life-long career in education and performance. This week, he will draw from his years of know-how to discuss folk instruments of early Illinois and perform musical demonstrations with the jaw harp, bones, mountain dulcimer and banjo. With Mike’s entertainment skills, it should prove to be an enjoyable show for all ages. The live online program is part of the Looking for Lincoln Conversation Series hosted by the Looking for Lincoln Heritage Coalition and funded by Illinois Humanities.
