Springfield’s oldest-surviving house opens its doors and drawers to the public during a series of behind-the-scenes tours of Edwards Place this Saturday. Curator of Collections Erika Holst will guide visitors on a rarely seen tour of the attic and cellars, plus the facility’s collections and storage areas. The house, built in 1833, was occupied by the Edwards family from 1843-1909 and turned over to the Springfield Art Association in 1913. The SAA has owned and maintained the property since, and undertook a massive renovation of the first floor to its mid-19th century glory in 2014-2015. Tours will be offered for $15 per person at 12 p.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. To purchase tickets in advance, visit http://edwardsplace.org.
