A conversation with the new UIS chancellor

Janet Gooch, a higher education educator with a strong history of leadership in diversity, equity and inclusion, is the seventh chancellor of the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS). She previously served as executive vice president for academic affairs and provost at Truman State University. John Allen, a retired educator and longtime Citizens Club board member, will have a conversation with her and discuss the vision for UIS, the university's plans for a downtown facility and the institution's relationships with the University of Illinois system, state government, the city and other entities. The morning will begin with a coffee reception at 7:30 a.m., and the program will follow at 8 a.m. The Citizens Club of Springfield, the mission of which is to promote public, civic and cultural welfare by educating its members and the general public in matters concerning public issues and events, is hosting the program. It is open to the public.
