Dorothy “Dot” Ewing lived a full and joyous life for 94 years. She was a truly inspiring person. Countless people called her friend, and those who had the privilege of meeting her were soon laughing with her. One of those people often told her that “she wanted to be her when she grew up.” Another called her “some kind of lady.”
If there was music playing she was singing or dancing. Her presence was welcomed and happiness infectious at the many social clubs and groups in which she participated over the years. She dressed to impress, loved a Blue Moon, a glass of wine and karaoke. She regularly attended line-dancing nights at Prairie Land Dance Club in Illiopolis well into her 90s, where they say “she was and is a legend.” Because she cared so much for others, she also proudly claimed to “always root for the underdog.”
More than anything, she loved and cherished her family, saying that her greatest accomplishment was “a 50-year marriage to a loving husband and father of five fantastic kids.” Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will miss her every day. She gave us endless love and so much to remember.
