Oh, my. Forget razor blades in apples and LSD dripped on chocolate. These days, public health is paramount, and so how will kids go door-to-door seeking goodies without everyone getting sick? Is trick-or-treating dressed as a coronavirus germ – just wait, it’s coming, because most everything else has – in bad taste or just in good fun? No matter what, trick-or-treating, like doorbelling during election season, is important, and it appears the tradition will live on. During Tuesday’s city council meeting, Ward 6 Ald. Kristin DiCenso asked what hours the city will establish for trick-or-treating, a sad reminder that kids disguised as ghosts need government to tell them when they can demand candy. Mayor Jim Langfelder replied he’s working on it and, voila, the next morning, the city announced official trick-or-treating hours, which will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31. “As a reminder, it is optional for individuals to welcome trick-or-treaters to their residences,” the city wrote in a press release. “Residents who wish to greet trick-or-treaters may do so by turning on their porch lights.” Thanks for letting us know.
