Halloween debut Dress the kids to win as they debut their costumes
during “Halloween at the Market.” Springfield Moms is holding a
costume contest complete with prizes. First place in each category receives
a $40 gift card, second-place winners receive a $20 gift card and
third-place winners receive a $15 gift card. Categories are ages 0-2, ages
3-6, ages 7-12. If your child does not win, you have another shot at glory
with the canine costume contest. The market will also feature a chef
demonstration as The Frank Trompeter Quartet and the Springfield Youth
Performance Group provide live music.

Honky-tonk Country music group Montgomery Gentry has made it to
their 10th year as top-selling artists and they plan to celebrate. The duo,
Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry, want to show their fans the maturity that
comes with a decade of making music. Hot off the release of their latest
album Back When I Knew It All, the band proves they can still identify with the working
class and the beliefs that made them who they are today. Performing
chart-toppers like Lucky Man and Roll With Me these country boys will show Springield what it is to be
honky-tonk proud.

Real humor
Television won’t allow you to escape
politics or the current financial crisis, but you can go to Donnie
B’s Funny Bone to laugh about it. This weekend, Norm MacDonald, famed
Saturday Night Live comedian will headline a stand-up comedy show. MacDonald
has written for Roseanne, The Dennis Miller Show and just released his
comedy album, Ridiculous. The long-awaited album features comedians Will Ferrell, Artie
Lange, and Molly Shannon. Though MacDonald has a long resume, he is best
known for delivering the fake news on SNL. Using egdy humor and biting sarcasm, MacDonald pulls no
punches when making political leaders the butt of his jokes.

Church ladies Every church has them and you know them when you see
them. They are the church basement ladies, clad in big hats and floral
dresses, and they are coming to Springfield. Humorists Janet Letnes
Martin and Suzannn Nelson, authors of the best-selling book Growing up Lutheran, with
production company Troupe America, Inc., combined their talents to create a
show fit for a person of any faith. Church
Basement Ladies is a musical comedy about the
trials and tribulations the ladies conquer to save church members from
themselves. Troupe America, Inc., is taking the one-night performance a
step further by holding a Church Basement Luncheon. The meal includes
herb-roasted chicken, sheet cakes, 7-layer salad, green beans with smoked
bacon and more. Church would not be church without the infamous ladies and
their comfort food.
