The Illinois Green Party, which is fielding 55
candidates in the upcoming November election, has restructured itself and
elected a new crop of party officers. At a meeting held recently in
Springfield, Greens picked Phil Huckelberry, Julie Samuels, and A.J.Segneri as chair, vice-chair, and treasurer, respectively, of the
party’s executive committee.

“We have already staked a claim as the second
party in Chicago, and around the state we expect to field more numerous and
more experienced candidates in the next couple of election cycles,”
says Huckleberry, also a national Green Party co-chair. David Black and Patrick Oldendorf will continue
in their roles as secretary and membership steward for the Illinois Greens.
