It is with profound love and the deepest sense of loss that we announce the passing of baby Meyers “Taco John” Everitt. Meyers, named after his great-grandpa Ronald Meyers, was born on Nov. 27, 2024, in Springfield, Illinois, and left our world far too soon on Sept. 4, 2025, in the same loving community where his story began.
In his brief yet joyful life, Meyers brought immense joy and light to everyone around him. His parents, Jason and Molly Everitt, cherish the precious moments they spent with their son. Meyers’ playful nature and loving cuddles will be dearly missed by his sister, Melody Sims-Everitt, and brother, Mason Everitt, who adored him beyond measure.
An endearing charm, Meyers was jokingly and lovingly called “Taco John” after being wrapped in a tortilla blanket given to him by Santa the previous year. His toes were called “taco beans.” He loved dancing fruits with Kendrick Lamar and watching ceiling fans. Taco John loved chicken and noodles made by his sister. He would think with his tongue out and always give the best snuggles. He was 100% rolls and chunk.
Meyers’ memory will also be cherished by his grandparents, Krista “Mimi” Shiffer, Richard and Christina Everitt, and “Ma-Ma” Sandra Warner. His “Uncle Donk” David and Aunt Marisha “ReRe” Leach, Uncle Justin and Aunt Tina Everitt, “Aunt Say Say” Sarah Leach, Aunt Dee Dee Sims and Aunt Karisa Everitt will hold fondly in their hearts the moments they were blessed to share with Meyers. His laughter and giggles will remain forever in the minds of his cousins Davey, Tyler, Dean, Mercedes Leach, Damaris, Jimmy Chipolla, Alexis O’Shell, Zoe, Aubree, Luna and Juniper Everitt.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, David V. and Sharon Leach; and cousin, Xavier O’Shell, who we know have welcomed him with open arms into Heaven.
Meyers’ love for dogs, particularly his favorite puppy, Lolly, left an indelible mark of purity and innocence. The snuggles and joy he shared with Lolly and his Uncle Donk’s dogs were among his most cherished moments.
Though Meyers’ time with us was short, the imprint he left on our hearts is eternal. His boisterous spirit, curious mind and chubby cheeks taught us to enjoy life and dance like no one is watching. He would also try and say, “Go Birds!”
We find solace in knowing that Meyers is now enveloped in peace and love, carried ever onward by the souls who went before him.
