For five years running, Dan Rohde (guitar, lead vocals), Josh Begue (bass, vocals) and Jesse Miller (drums, vocals) made Dog of Panic one of the area’s most interesting bands. Playing original music self-described as “rock with roots in jam, funk, metal and punk,” the band cites musical influences from Primus to Tool, Incubus to Umphrey’s McGee. The triumphant trio proudly lists several accomplishments achieved over the last half a decade, including releasing a full-length album called Tip of the Tongue (available on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify) and playing over a 100 shows from St. Louis to Chicago. They did it their way while remaining, “too metal to be hippie, and too hippie to be metal,” and creating a “stigma of surprising the ears with collisions of off-time beats and harmonic melodies” everywhere they perform. After this weekend’s anniversary celebration show, Dan, Josh and Jesse begin a weekly residence at the Tin Can Pub every Tuesday in June where you can hear the guys developing new sounds and songs for an upcoming CD project due out soon.
