We lived on the home farm when we were small
My brother and I found a nearby ditch piled with
trash and garbage. Daddy sent out a farm hand
to clean it up. We watched while Ed shoveled
the mess into the back of a pickup. “Aha!” he
cried finding several empty envelopes. We drove
into town with him and found the address on
the envelope. A nice house on a neat lawn
Ed backed the truck into the yard and we
helped shovel all the ditch droppings onto
the grass. “Aha!” Ed said, “That will teach em!”
“That will teach em!” Craig and I echoed as we
drove back to the cleaned-up countryside.
