Continued from yesterday…
My epiphany finally came when I tried being a vegetarian for
a week. I lost 5 pounds in the first three days, and I continued to drop weight
at an almost alarming pace. I quickly embraced the meat-free lifestyle, and
eventually went vegan, eating no animal products at all. (I must admit I cheat
from time to time and have some dairy, but I’m working on breaking myself of
that.)
Since becoming an herbivore, I’ve lost another 30 pounds.
(No, I don’t miss meat, especially since Food Fantasies carries my favorite
vegan sausage!) Even though I’m still a bit overweight, I have plenty of
energy, and I feel better about myself. I’m treating my body right, and I’m
doing less harm to the environment. Best of all, I have chosen a path that I
believe will save me from cancer, diabetes, heart disease and the general
unpleasantness of obesity.
If you don’t already, I dare you to start exercising
regularly and eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat. I predict you’ll
be pleased with the results.
In the meantime, my coworkers have their own health-related stories to share, so
keep watching this blog, and please consider sharing your weight loss stories
and struggles with us.
