Hey, all of you cerevisaphiles (including hopheads, you know who you are), if you’re looking for a way to round out the summer with good beer and good food, all while helping a good cause, check out the annual Springfield Oyster and Beer Festival at The Inn at 835. Over 50 different craft beer brands from across the Midwest will be represented and they will be offering over 150 beer varieties. Festival organizers upped the number of gourmet oysters to 6,000 this year, so there will be plenty for everyone. Don’t worry if oysters aren’t your thing, though, as food trucks will be on hand with culinary selections to complement your cold craft beer. While you are indulging in all the fine food and libations, Off the Wall and Me, Myself and Schy will be on stage to keep the festivities lively. As you may know, this annual festival has an awesome tradition of raising money for local charities and this year’s recipient is the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois, which provides a supportive place for families to stay while their child is receiving medical care, and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children. The festival will go on rain or shine (you can duck under one of the tents if the raindrops obliterate the sunshine) and, as it is a charitable event, refunds will not be issued. Visit the website at sobfestival.com for advance tickets or pay at the gate.
