Free tickets to the dedication of the Abraham
Lincoln Presidential Museum will be available to the public next
week at the Prairie Capital Convention Center box office.
Tickets are required to attend a concert by
the 312 Army Band at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, and the dedication
ceremony at 11 a.m.
The tickets will be available 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
Monday-Wednesday, April 11-13. The box office is located in the
main lobby of the convention center. Bring a government-issued
photo ID, such as a driver’s license. There is a limit of two
tickets per person.
The dedication ceremony is expected to bring a
number of dignitaries to Springfield, and security measures will be
in place. Backpacks and luggage are prohibited, bags will be
subject to searches, and metal detectors will be used.
No parking will be available near the museum on dedication day, but free shuttle buses
will run from the Illinois State Fairgrounds to the museum 7 a.m.-7
p.m.
The presidential museum will be open to the
public 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17. Regular
admission fees will be charged. The cost is $7.50 for adults, $3.50
for children between the ages of 5 and 15, and $5.50 for senior
citizens, students, and members of the armed forces. Admission is
free for children ages 4 and younger.
The dedication caps four days of celebration
beginning Saturday, April 16, with a block party in downtown
Springfield.
