From her days as a teenage singer fronting Still Kickin’, the popular Midwest band based out of Springfield, Kelsey Hickman seemed poised for stardom. After Still Kickin’ split in 2013, Kelsey did what many aspiring country singers before her have done and headed for the bright lights of Music City, USA, Nashville, Tenn. After a few years of hard work and searching, she ended up under the tutelage of producer Kent Wells, who once worked with Dolly Parton. Wells produced her debut single, “Gone,” written by Kelsey, Wells and Rhyme Partners writer Bill DiLuigi and also finished recording Gypsy, a full-length album. The single is out now, making a splash on country radio under the Wells-established label Go Time Records and the radio digital release company CDX. Kelsey returns to Springfield to showcase her band, the songs, the record and that wonderful talent last seen on our local stages so destined for bigger places. Local country stalwarts New City Road open the show followed by Kelsey and her band.
