Just like history, fashion often repeats itself. Popular clothing trends of decades past are leading a nostalgia trend and making vintage clothing stores the new hot spot for retro style. "Fashion trends have 20-25 year cycles," says Linda Renehan of Springfield Vintage in downtown Springfield.

Pencil skirts, fitted blouses and Rockabilly swing dresses are fashionable choices for the classic, retro look of the 50s. Vintage-inspired bandana hairstyles are also a favored look for the summer – Pin-up style up-dos and Rockabilly pin-up looks.

The 50s have made a huge comeback in men's fashion also – with slim-fit jeans, tortoise-shell, fedoras and oxford wingtips. Retro styles.

"Sometimes replica clothing is more desirable than actual vintage clothing," Renehan explains. "People's bodies have changed over time." Fabrics and shapes might be slightly different, but colors and patterns remain the same. –Joseph Copley
