Ashley Staley, half of the popular music duo JackAsh (guitarist and singer Jack Stege is the other member), is the best female singer in town according to our intrepid readers. She takes her singing seriously and has for a long time.
Influenced by the band Heart when starting out, she now respects and listens to Lady Gaga, among other pop female singers currently out there pushing the pipes. She accompanies herself on the keyboards in the duo, but mainly concentrates on the singing and, oh brother, can she put it out there.
As a founding member of the local band Off the Wall, she once asked Jack, the band's lead guitarist, if he'd be interested in an acoustic-based duo, and that's how JackAsh came about. Ashley now makes this combo her only singing outlet and very much likes having the ability to choose material fitting to her incredible voice. It also allows her to perform in a more intimate atmosphere where the songs are forefront and the audience interaction is more of a personal conversation than a crowded concert.
As might be expected, the duo does play smaller clubs, but they can also do our larger beer garden areas, because when Ashley sings the world takes notice, as her melodious and mellifluous voice makes any size room seem close, comfortable and inviting, filled with the sweet sounds of her soothing singing.
