The project, called “Virtual Peoria Riverfront Museum,” with the tagline “Join us for inspiration daily,” is designed to reach the community through the museum’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, email and the museum’s website.
Museum curators and educators are creating a library of content that includes a series of videos, from the final tour through “Da Vinci – The Genius” to “Hands-on at Home” projects for children to “Whiz Bang Science” demonstrations using liquid nitrogen, dry ice and more. “Whiz Bang Science Live” kicks off March 26 as a Facebook live.
“Our virtual museum will draw on the resources of our staff, collection and exhibitions as the nation's only museum of art, science, history and achievement to make content accessible on social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, our website and through email. We will continue to partner with more than 220 like-minded cultural, educational and civic organizations regionally and nationally.”
