For more than 20 years Craig Straubinger (aka Craig Daddy) has led The Trip Daddys of St. Louis on a musical adventure blending rockabilly, hard country, blues and real rock ‘n’ roll to create a synthesis of American roots music as performed by a simple, rocking trio. Using an electric guitar and covering the lead vocals, Mr. Daddy is joined by fellow rockers Charles Clements on upright bass and Bill Walters on drums to make an electrifying trio guaranteed to make you groove, dance, sweat and sway. Along with developing a killer reputation for scorching live shows, the band has shared the stage with royal roots acts such as Chuck Berry, Brian Setzer, Dick Dale, Hank 3, BR549, X and Wayne Hancock. Since 2013, Craig has been officially endorsed by Gretsch guitars (how cool is that?) and he fronted the band for Slim Jim Phantom of the Stray Cats during a 2003 Midwest string of gigs (way cool) plus backed pal Exene Cervenka on a 2008 Midwest tour (too cool to touch). This is the real deal, and when backed by a couple of Springfield scorchers, it makes the deal even sweeter.
