A recent competitor at the 2018 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, this Chicago-based quartet delivers a funky, dual bass player approach to the world of blues. Susan Williams, known to Springfield blues fans from previous performances at The Alamo on Blue Monday, hails from Chicago where she’s fronted her own bands for 30-some years. Now she’s combined forces with Chicago native and bassist Darryl Wright, a gospel and blues musician who has shared the stage with the likes of Mavis Staples, his father’s gospel band, Billy Preston and many others. Guitarist and songwriter Mike Gallemore adds his playing skills (honed with Sam Lay, The Kinsey Report, Buddy Miles and others) to the hot mix of a cool combo. Filling out the blazing band of blues masters is drummer Rob “Skoalie” Davis, a veteran of U.S. and European tours with a resume including stints with The Alex Zayas Band, The Forte Band and Orchestra and Sam Cockrell and The Groove. The group recently released an 11-song CD of all originals called It’s About Time.
