Walk to end the stigma associated with mental health this Saturday during the Out of Darkness Community Walk for suicide prevention. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is the nation’s leader in the fight against suicide. Funds generated from their community walks and other programs enable the AFSP to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy and support survivors of suicide loss. Help the AFSP reach their goal of reducing the suicide rate 20 percent by the year 2025 by participating in Saturday’s walk. Registration will be accepted online through Friday, Oct. 16 at noon, however in-person registration will be accepted from 1 to 2 p.m. the day of the event. The walk begins at 2 p.m., and ends at 3 p.m. For more information about the Out of Darkness Community Walk, call 312-890-2377 or email Illinois@AFSP.org.
