Black History Month opens Feb. 1 with the first of 10 performances of Small Beginnings, a short play about Robert Smalls. Smalls, enslaved from birth, commandeered a Confederate Ship in Charleston, South Carolina, and used it to take family and friends to freedom. The play is followed by a Q&A session.
