Back for one more reunion show that celebrates 21 years of togetherness, Mr. O still rules the roost in the local “original music with a few covers” category. After a strong showing in the late 90s and early to mid 00s, including winning Illinois Times’ “Best of Springfield” reader polls, producing CDs of all original material, receiving extensive local and commercial radio airplay, opening up for Journey at the Illinois State Fair, and appearing on Michael Feldman’s “Whad’ya Know” hosted by NPR at Sangamon Auditorium, music-mates Mark Sanders, Troy Roark, Doug Gholson, Chris Camp and Steve Myers continue to get together a few times a year for fun times and frolicking. Along with original favorites such as “Lisa’s Shirt,” “Havana,” “Friend” and “Try Not to Fall in Love,” the guys blend in an odd and wonderful assortment of cover songs, such as Prince’s “Kiss,” AC/DC’s “All Night Long” and “Fight for Your Right to Party” by the Beastie Boys, and they make it look easy by having a blast, playing songs, and doing what they do so well.
