Member’s Showcase and Holiday Pop Shop

SAA Collective Gallery Opens in a New Location
with the Member’s Showcase and Holiday Pop Shop

Springfield, IL, November 12, 2020 – The SAA will offer a preview of the new SAA Collective gallery in its new location in the Broadwell Pharmacy building at 105 North 5th Street in time for the first Downtown Springfield Holiday Walk on Saturday, November 14th. The SAA Collective gallery represents 76 artists from across central Illinois. Their media include painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, jewelry, ceramics, glass, woodworking, and mixed media. The opening of the new location will include a variety of holiday decorations and gifts in addition to fine art.
Formerly known as the Prairie Art Alliance, the PAA merged with the Springfield Art Association in January of 2016. The gallery had been housed in the Hoogland Center for the Arts since that location opened 16 years ago. The restrictions and closures forced by the Corona virus motivated the move to an independent storefront with direct street access. We are thrilled to be at the center of downtown and look forward to supporting the revitalization of downtown once the virus has subsided.
The SAA Collective Member’s Showcase and the Holiday Pop Shop will be displayed across two locations; in the new 5th Street storefront and in the M. G. Nelson Family Gallery on the SAA campus at 700 North 4th Street. Both locations will carry a broad variety of work. Various promotions will be in place to encourage shoppers to visit both locations.
Hours for the SAA Collective gallery are 11 to 5 Wednesday through Saturday plus all the Wednesday and Saturday evening Downtown Holiday Events. The M.G. Nelson Family Gallery hours are 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, and 10 AM to 3 PM on Saturdays.
