COMMON PROBLEM

Sadly, understaffing is happening everywhere ("Understaffing problematic at McFarland Mental Health," Nov. 23). Why do you think places like Brother James Court and St. Joseph's Home had to close? They cared for different people than McFarland, but they were not able to keep their doors open. There was not enough staff and little funds coming from the state to keep them afloat.

ALL TRUMP

Scott Reeder's column "When voters lack options" includes no mention of the gerrymandering Democrats did in state legislative, congressional and judicial districts (Nov. 17). Look at the 13th District. But it's all Trump, Trump, Trump. It is like a drug with you in the media.

FEW CHOICES

In the state elections recently, I had choices ("When voters lack options," Nov. 17). But after that, not so much – locally none. So I left some blank spaces on my ballot.

SAIL AWAY

The article "Speaker Welch reflects on growing House majority" shows where Illinois' continuous Democrat super-majority has taken us.  We are indeed up a creek as long as our Democrat leaders ignore that we are drowning in debt. Sadly, the last election shows where we are without a paddle.

Illinois will continue down this path with Pritzker at the rudder.  When I can, I will sail away with my Social Security and bid Illinois bon voyage.

PLANT POLLINATORS

We do a pollinator yard and I love it ("Plant native pollinators this winter," Nov. 23)!

USE CATNIP

Bees love catnip. Just know it's a spreader and will survive pretty much anything.

CONGRATS

Congratulations to the Rock Creek Presbyterian Church family. Great article from Cinda Klickna and she's right, what a beautiful setting ("Rock Creek Presbyterian celebrates 200th anniversary," Nov. 17).
