Larry Eugene Morris died on Thanksgiving Day this year. I met Larry some 65 years ago. He was my oldest and dearest friend. We were like brothers.
Larry enlisted in the U.S. Navy and then the U.S. Army, serving for more than 20 years, including several tours in Vietnam. He was a well-decorated veteran with many medals, including the Silver Star and Bronze Star. He was a lifetime and active member of the Northenders V.F.W., Vietnam Veterans of America Post 534, honor guard and took part in Disabled American Veterans activities.
Even though we didn't see him often as his career had him stationed all over, we did keep in touch. Whenever he came back home on leave before or after deployment, we always got together and had a good time. Larry came back here to live after his wife of 22 years passed away. That was twelve years ago.
Larry was like a jack of all trades. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for his family and friends.
I miss him so much. He will always be my hero. Rest in peace my friend. Until we are together again. I love you, brother.
