Ida B. Wells, Chicago Stories Documentary

On a September day in 1883, 21-year-old Ida B. Wells was on a train from Memphis to her teaching job in Shelby County, Tennessee. Aboard the ladies' car, Ida read her newspaper. After Ida refused to leave the train because it was "for white ladies only," she was removed by force as white passengers cheered. For Wells, the fight didn't stop there. She became an investigative journalist, early leader in the civil rights movement and was one of the founders of the NAACP. No registration required for screening. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
