Santa Claus is going to be one busy ol' elf on Saturday, Dec. 3. If you head out to Clayville Historic Site near Pleasant Plains, you can join him in a cup of hot chocolate from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Stop by the Edwards Place from 1-4 p.m. and you may find him decked out in his Civil War-era Christmas finery, singing carols and enjoying treats, while period-costumed interpreters tell you about Christmastimes past. Santa will also be receiving visitors on the lawn of the Old State Capitol during the Old Capitol Walks throughout the day. While there you can also catch a carriage ride and see some live entertainment. As the day wraps up, Santa will be riding a float in the annual Springfield Jaycees' Holiday Lights Parade that begins at 5:30 p.m. Whatever holiday plans you have for the day, you will be sure to have a chance see that plump and jolly guy around just about every corner.
