Illinois Humane raises funds with motorcycle enthusiasts

Untitled Document Illinois Humane hosts the Hogs for Dogs dice run for the second year in a row on Saturday, June 16. Money raised at the run “goes directly to animal care costs,” says Jane McBride, president of Illinois Humane. Aside from helping animals, this year’s dice run features a drawing for a 2007 Harley-Davidson Sportster. The bikers will begin the course at Hooters, then travel to Athens, Tallula, New Berlin, and Auburn before cooling their engines back in Springfield at an afterparty, featuring a wing cook-off and music by Out of the Woods, at the Curve Inn.  Promotion for the event has been going on since October, McBride says, and this year she expects 200 or more bikes at the run. “There is an amazing amount of animal lovers among the bikers,” McBride says. Motorcycle fans can expect to see dogs at this event as well. Rufus, a Chihuahua, is one of the grand marshals for the event.  “I would love for everyone to come out — we’ll have a great time,” McBride says.
Registration for Hogs for Dogs begins at 9:30 a.m. at Hooters (3141 Horizon Dr.). The run concludes with a party at Curve Inn (3219 S. Sixth St.), 4-8 p.m. For information on the run, go to
