On the move and in the groove since their inception, this “not your grandpa’s blues band” combines elements of funk, rock, New Orleans jazz, Memphis R & B and more to a solid blues-based concept, coming up with a 21st century take on making the blues come alive. Bandmates, Matt Isbell (vocals, guitar), Suavo Jones (trombone), Taylor Orr (lead guitar), Matthew Karner (bass), Tim Stanek (keys) and Andrew McNeill (drums), certainly gained attention with this different-sounding, but still within the blues, go-for-it band. From a recent headlining slot at the Montreal Jazz Festival blues stage to five Blues Blast Music Award nominations, plus runner-up spots at the International Blues Challenge and a touring schedule set to reach thousands of new fans, Ghost Town Blues Band is charging out of Beale Street in Memphis with passion and drive. Take a cue from Living Blues Magazine that claims, “With a shoot-from-the-hip Memphis attitude and a STAX-busting explosion of modern blues vision, GTBB represents a welcome changing of the guard.”
