This Chicago-based quartet keeps making the rounds and stirring the pot with festival appearances at the Midwest’s finest, including Summerfest, Summer Camp and 10,000 Lakes. Family Groove Company employs Adam Lewis (guitar), Janis Wallin (bass, vocals), Jordan Wilkow (Fender Rhodes, keyboards, lead vocals) and Mattias Blanck (drum, percussion, vocals) as the providers of the music, giving the “company” the “groove” with the group close enough to be “family” as well as friends. Back in 2002, members met while living in Los Angeles, then soon relocated to Chicago where the business of making music began in earnest. With over 25,000 CDs distributed through live shows and purchases, the band works its magic wherever they travel. Through a combination of tight, thick rhythmic grooves and purposeful composition in songwriting, FGC makes music they term “groove informed jazz/rock” that resonates with fans of all types of good music. Nightly improvisations allow the band to tick and finely tuned tunes directs their crucial sensibilities to create a captivating style of fresh and powerful music.
