The Lincoln Magnet School (LMS) and local artist Christy Freeman are teaming up to encourage the public to paint for a good cause.

Coffee: The New Paint, will be held Sunday, May 7, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Lincoln Magnet School, 300 S. 11th St. in Springfield.

For $25 per person or an early registration special of two for $40, you can take home your own original 11x14 coffee watercolor painting in the acrylic style of Freeman.

For those interested in Freeman’s work, visit her gallery located at the upper level at White Oaks Mall, as well as her website at christystudios.com.

Proceeds from the event will go to the LMS Jr. Beta Club, a service organization at the middle school level that volunteers for various events throughout the school year. The Beta Club is raising money to go to the National Beta Club Junior Convention this June in Orlando, Florida, where they will compete against other Beta Clubs in singing competitions, art categories and scrapbooking. Refreshments will be served, and a raffle will be held. To reserve your spot, call 217-525-3236.
