Christmas Around Europe

Blackburn College Choir and Blackburn Voices to Present Annual Christmas at Blackburn Concert November 21, 2019, Carlinville, IL – The Blackburn College Choir and Blackburn Voices will be presenting their annual “Christmas at Blackburn” concert. This year, the theme of the concert is “Christmas around Europe.” The concert will be he held on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in Clegg Chapel, located in Hudson Hall in the center of the Blackburn campus. This concert will feature Christmas music with rich European roots. Much of the music will feature the choir accompanied by Blackburn piano and organ faculty Dr. See Tsai Chan. Those works include the traditional carols Stille Nacht (Silent Night) and O Holy Night; and the beautiful Gesu Bambino (The Infant Jesus). The Blackburn College Voices will also perform selections from their recent sold-out Madrigal Dinners, including In Natali Domini, Ríu, Ríu, Chíu, and Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella. The Blackburn College Choir, conducted by Dr. Joseph Welch, is composed of Blackburn students, Blackburn faculty and staff, and members from the surrounding communities. Blackburn Voices is a chamber choral ensemble exclusively comprised of Blackburn students, also directed by Dr. Joseph Welch. Admission to the concert is free to the public. The community is encouraged to come support these ensembles and enjoy a night of wonderful music and winter fun.
