Carillon Winter Concerts

On Sundays and Wednesdays, listen for the sound of the Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon as Springfield Park District’s carillonneur, Carlo van Ulft, plays a wide variety of music from original carillon compositions to arrangements of classical, folk and popular music for the winter season. The Carillon Winter Concerts will continue through April 28 on Sundays at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and Wednesdays at noon. When the carillon is not being played, the Westminster Chime will sound on the quarter hour with a melody that grows as the hour advances, culminating in an hour strike at the top of the hour. This method of indicating time is centuries old. To learn more about the Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon including events, tours and its history, visit carillon-rees.org or call 546-3853.
