It has worked since 1983, primarily on the east side of Springfield. Asbury Methodist Church is surrounded by the lowest income tracts, the highest percentage of child poverty, and the highest percentage of crime and violence.
Many of our children are living in the brokenness that comes with inner-city conditions. These conditions are often so bad that the children may not have the ability to eat within their own homes.
Later, Asbury’s Children’s Supper Hour became an independent, registered, non-profit ministry of its own and has been growing ever since. We are so grateful to the members of Asbury United Methodist Church for stepping forth when God called to create the Children’s Supper Hour!
