Artist Chat: Nora Moore Lloyd

Nora Moore Lloyd’s (Ojibwe) artwork focuses on Indigenous cultures, nature and community and family history through traditional storytelling and photography. Her work now on exhibit focuses on the Ojibwe practice of harvesting birch bark for basketry, canoe making, coverings for structures and more. These practices are rooted in forest management, conservation, and the continuity of Indigenous cultural expression and identity, but Indigenous people have long had to fight to continue to follow traditional practices. Join artist Nora Moore Lloyd and curator of art Douglas Stapleton for a discussion of Moore Lloyd’s work and how it relates to Indigenous culture.
