"I've always been artistic and creative and had to do something," says Brandy Fletcher. A professional photographer who spent most weekends with her husband shooting hundreds of weddings over 15 years, Fletcher said health issues led her to painting furniture and crafting.
After selling her wares on Facebook Marketplace and giving them to friends and family as gifts, Fletcher says, "I kept having this feeling last year that I wanted to do a store, to fully do it as a job." That led her to open B's Creative Studio in March earlier this year, in a renovated space on South MacArthur Boulevard next to Gyros Stop.
Her shop is bright and vibrant, showcasing an eclectic blend of all things Pinterest. Fletcher specializes in personal and creative gifts made by herself and other local vendors, mostly women. On the shelves you may find tumblers, clothing, jewelry, furniture, home décor and much more, all locally made and directly supporting a variety of local artists.
"We do a lot of creative bundles and gift packs," says Fletcher. But her true love is personalizing. "I'm big on creating one-of-a-kind items. When it comes to my cups, I have a lot of things I do. People will bring me pictures and I get to design it and create something for them."
In addition to selling goods, Fletcher also offers classes for artists and crafters of all ages.
Of winning Best of Springfield Fletcher says, "We're honored and excited, not just for me, but for all these other women here who are doing things. It's not just one person winning, it's a family."
Fletcher has been so successful at her business she plans to move to a bigger space after the holiday season, opening in February of 2023.
"We're thankful, and excited to see what the next year brings," remarks Fletcher.
