Editor's note 11-18-21

Many in this country seem to believe the three great enemies of the people are globalism, socialism and journalism. That sentiment, however, is more than matched by the idealism of the young journalists we're interviewing this week for the UIS Public Affairs Reporting internship. They are in it to make a difference. To them we pass along what Pope Francis told a group of reporters Nov. 13: "Journalism does not come about by choosing a profession, but by embarking on a mission, a little like a doctor, who studies and works so that the evil in the world may be healed. Your mission is to explain the world, to make it less obscure, to make those who live in it less afraid of it and look at others with greater awareness, and also with more confidence."– Fletcher Farrar, editor
