In the 1980s when brothers Brig Sorber and Jon Sorber needed to make some money after school, they asked their mom, Mary Ellen Sheets, to create a logo – two stick people in a truck – and to put an ad in the local Lansing, Michigan, weekly newspaper. The brothers used an old truck to move families in the local area and when they left for college, the phone kept ringing. Mom continued answering the calls until she realized she had an empire on her hands. Well, maybe not an empire, but a business that would grow to be a national franchise, aptly named Two Men and a Truck.

The mission of Two Men and a Truck is to continuously strive to exceed customers' expectations in value and a high standard of satisfaction. Community service is also an integral part of its business plan. The fastest-growing franchised moving company has donated thousands of service hours in communities across the nation and in 2019 alone, the franchises donated more than $3 million worth of moving services to people and organizations in need. This spirit was a big influence in developing the tagline, "Movers Who Care."

Dan and Renee Shunk own the Two Men and a Truck franchise for central Illinois and opened their first location in Champaign, followed by one in Bloomington and then Springfield in 2014. The Shunks purchased the former Chase branch on North Grand Avenue in 2019 and Two Men and a Truck relocated to the larger space.

At the time, business development manager Travis Blaney said, "I love how Springfield has welcomed us and allowed us to do our thing. It's a great location. We're looking forward to being here for a long time."
