Mission BBQ is new to the Springfield scene, but it is certainly no stranger to serving up top-notch barbecue and all the fixings. Mission BBQ is a chain that was formed about 10 years ago by two friends who believed there is "nothing more American than BBQ. And nobody more American than the brave men and women who have sworn to protect and serve our communities and our country." One of the unique things about Mission BBQ is that every day at noon the national anthem is played, the flag is displayed on all screens and diners are asked to stand.
Mission BBQ's menu is typical of a barbecue joint. The meats are always tender, with the perfect amount of smoke. Whether you choose the brisket (which comes moist or lean), the pulled pork or the chicken, you won't go wrong. We've heard very few complaints. If you haven't tried the smoked sausage yet, it's a must.
Don't forget some sides to perfectly compliment all this delicious barbecue. Mission BBQ has a star lineup of side dishes – including green beans with (yum) bacon, fresh cut and never frozen fries, and Maggie's mac-n-cheese. Seasonal sides and sweets are available as well.
For those looking for something a little outside the box, Mission BBQ also offers salmon and smoked meatloaf along with entrée salads. While Mission BBQ is only counter service, there are plenty of staff circulating, clearing tables and checking on all patrons. It's a nice touch, and is just one of the reasons it was voted best new restaurant.
