OUT on Adams

Phoenix Center, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting equality, well-being and social and educational growth for LGBTQ individuals in central Illinois, has opened a new resource center and retail space. OUT on Adams will have LGBTQ resources available, such as information regarding local medical providers, materials addressing how to support LGBTQ individuals and the services offered by Phoenix Center. In addition to staff and volunteers being on hand at the center to answer questions and provide support, the retail space area will also sell Pride-themed merchandise such as T-shirts, jewelry, flags and books, the sales of which will benefit the Phoenix Center. Grand opening celebration activities will include a drag queen storytime, giveaways, a selfie station, temporary tattoos and sidewalk drawings. A ribbon-cutting with Downtown Springfield, Inc. is scheduled for 10 a.m.
