Music lovers will not want to miss this one-of-a-kind concert that brings two legendary musicians side by side in a stellar live performance combining blues and classical music. Join “harmonica playing mad scientist” Corky Siegel, who in 1966 guided the bluesy sounds of Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters from Big John’s Club, located on Chicago’s north side, to the big-time stages of the Chicago Symphony, New York Philharmonic and beyond. Drummer Sam Lay can be heard on more than 40 Chess Records recordings with musical greats such as Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, Junior Wells, Bo Diddly, Little Walter and more. The concert ends a two-day celebration of Sam Lay, as the film Sam Lay in Bluesland will be shown on Friday night at 7 p.m., with a talk and question-and-answer session with Sam Lay immediately following the film. Concert tickets are available for $40. The film and Q&A session are free to attend, but require tickets. Tickets for all events can be acquired online at http://sangamonauditorium.org.
