Operating Hours & Season

The Lincoln Home Visitor Center, located at 426 South Seventh Street, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily except January 1st, Thanksgiving Day, and December 25th.  Free 20-25 minute tours of the Lincoln Home are offered daily from 8:45 until 4:30. Due to heavy visitation during the summer months, visitors are encouraged to arrive as early as possible to receive tickets to tour the home. On busy days, tickets may run out.

Obed and Isaac’s opened in 2012 and proved that brewpubs could be as popular here as anywhere else. Housed in an historic mansion nestled against a sizeable outdoor beer garden to accommodate summertime crowds, Obed’s is a comfortable walk from Lincoln’s Home and other downtown historic sites. Most of the inside is used for restaurant space, but there is also a good-sized bar inside and plenty of outdoor seating. The food is excellent and affordable, with lunches in the $8 to $10 range and dinner offerings less than twice that. Tap offerings are expansive and often adventuresome. Try a flight of micro brewed beers, and be sure to sample the flatbread pizza, made from grains left over from the brewing process. The atmosphere is laid back, with the beer garden featuring bocce ball courts and welcoming dogs

Union Square Park is located directly across the street from the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and has been the location of many free events and performances, including the 33rd Illinois Vol. Regiment Band and the 10th Illinois Vol. Cavalry Regiment Band (both Civil War re-enactment groups); Mary Lincoln’s Strawberry Party (a summertime family event); July 4th celebration, New Century Orchestra, Springfield International Folk Dancers, and many more musical performances throughout the year.
